2025-12-19: Festive Ferrari Friday with four great examples we saw this year ...
Ferrari 312/69 F1 It is an extra festive Ferrari Friday with four great competition cars that we saw in action this year and you may see again in the near future. First up is this striking 312/69 F1, which, as the name suggests, was raced during the 1969 Formula 1 season. It was the last Ferrari Grand Prix car before the new generation flat-12 powered cars were introduced. Preserved in a prominent collection for many years, chassis 0019 is remarkably original and today sports a rear wing similar to the the one used at the Monaco Grand Prix in 1969. This was recreated in anticipation of an entry in next year's Grand Prix Historique.
At the Le Mans Classic, we were treated to pair of 1950s sports racers. Rarest of the bunch is the sole surviving 118 LM. It is one of very few Ferraris powered by a straight-six engine and served the works team before it was sold to the United States. Fitted with a 121 LM specification engine, 0484LM was brought out this year by its most recent custodian and raced with verve. Sharing the same grid was this 750 Monza, which was raced extensively and successfully in Italy during the 1950s. Later in life, it was a regular competitor in the Mille Miglia retrospectives. Now in American hands, 0530M, it has returned to action.
At the Imola Classic in July, this 360 GTC was reunited with one of the drivers that originally raced it in the 24 Hours of Le Mans back in 2005. Still sporting its Gizmodo colours, 2068 competed in the highly competitive Endurance Racing Legends 2 grid.
To conclude this festive Ferrari Friday, we would like to wish you a great time during the upcoming holiday season and all the best for the New Year. We will be back to cater to all your automotive history needs in 2026.
2025-12-16: Group C racers from Nissan, Porsche and Rondeau ...
Nissan R90CK The Group C category holds a special place in the hearts of many car enthusiasts. During the last few editions of the Le Mans Classic, Group C was part of the support program but at the upcoming Le Mans Classic Legend will be part of the main program. To mark the occasion, we have taken a closer look at three Group C cars that raced at this year's Le Mans Classic.
First up is this thundering Nissan R90CK, which was part of Nissan's assault on the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1990 where it retired with engine issues. Earlier in the year, it finished third in the World Championship round at Spa. Its final contemporary outing came at the Daytona 24 Hours in 1991 where it started third but once more suffered from mechanical issues. Retained by Nissan until the mid-2000s, R90C/3 is now part of the stable of a prominent British historic racer.
Part of the original generation of Group C cars, this Rondeau M382 was raced at Le Mans five times between 1982 and 1986. It then spent the next 37 years in the Le Mans Museum collection as a tribute to the late Jean Rondeau. Especially for the Le Mans Classic, M382-003 was restored to full running order by the Association Jean Rondeau.
Fielded by Frikadelli Racing during the 2025 Historic Group C championship, this Porsche 962C also has a particularly interesting history. Built on a spare chassis by Jochen Dauer, it is a tribute to the 962C that was raced at the 1991 Daytona 24 Hours by Jeff, Michael and Mario Andretti. The original car was used for one of the Dauer road cars. Using a spare chassis, Dauer resurrected the racing car and 962-172 identity.
2025-12-12: Group A M3 and Sierra RS500 Cosworth, and limited edition Porsche GT3 ...
BMW M3 Group A There will be a renewed interest in Group A touring cars from the 2026 season onwards with the addition of the dedicated Heritage Touring Cup 2 grid to select events of the Le Mans Classic Series. Compared to the combined HTC grid, the cut-off date for Group A cars will be stretched to 1992. This opens the door to evocative machinery like the BMW M3 and the Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth. To mark the occasion, we have taken a closer look at two examples of these legendary touring cars. First up is an ex-Schnitzer M3 Group A, which was raced by the works-backed team during the second half of the 1987 season. It made appearances at the Spa 24 Hours and the Bathurst 1000, and chassis M3/1-42 is due to race at several HTC2 rounds in 2026. One of the cars it may come across is this Sierra RS500 Cosworth Group A, which was originally built by the Rouse Sport team. Although it had a relatively short period racing career, it has been highly successfully campaigned in recent years.
To celebrate what would have been Ferdinand Alexander Porsche's 90th birthday, Porsche created the limited production 911 GT3 90 F.A. Porsche. Only 90 examples will be produced and the 90 F.A. Porsche is available in the bespoke F. A. Greenmetallic colour, which is inspired by the Oakgreenmetallic of his personal 911.
2025-12-09: Stellar auction results from RM Sotheby's and Artcurial, and new Ligier GT2 racer ...
McLaren F1 As part of the exciting Formula 1 season finale, RM Sotheby's staged the hugely successful Abu Dhabi Auction. Although only 30 lots strong, the sale totalled a stellar $84.7 million. The top seller was the highly anticipated McLaren F1 that was once part of the collection of the Brunei Royal Family. Upgraded with the desirable High Downforce Kit, chassis 014 found a new owner for an estimate topping $25.3 million. Other McLarens that starred in the sale were the yet to be produced 2026 Formula 1 car and an example of the Hypercar that is due to debut in 2027.
On Sunday, Artcurial offered a selection from the Renault Collection in the Renault Icons. The sale was also an absolute success with a 100% sell-through rate with most sales prices exceeding the top estimate. The unique opportunity to acquired the Renault-Alpine A442 prototype pushed bids far beyond the €500,000 estimate to final sales price of €1.3 million. The top seller of the auction was the Williams FW19 Renault, which was part of Jacques Villeneuve's 1997 Formula 1 World Championship winning effort.
The latest addition to the GT2 European Series is the Ligier JS2 RS. Powered by a twin-turbo Ford EcoBoost V6 engine and built around a LMP3 specification carbon-fibre composite monocoque, the French mid-engined sports car will be fully homologated from the 2026 season onwards.
2025-12-05: New Toyota GR GT, Lexus LFA concept and Renault Collection headed for auction ...
Toyota GR GT3 At a special event, Toyota Gazoo Racing revealed the all-new GR GT and the track-bound GR GT3. Both share Toyota's very first aluminium space frame chassis and an all-new twin-turbo V8 engine. The road going GR GT also features an electric motor that is integrated in the eight-speed automatic gearbox. The combined system power is 641 bhp and 850 Nm of torque. Due to hit the tracks in 2027, the GR GT3 will have an internal combustion engine only and a much more aggressive aero-package that includes a full-width rear wing.
Using the same underpinnings is the Lexus LFA Concept. The spiritual successor to the V10-engined legend, this iteration of the LFA is a battery electric vehicle.
French auctioneer will stage the Renault Icons sale with a selection from the Collection Renault this weekend. The 180-lot sale includes a wide variety of competition cars, motor show prototypes, automobilia and scale models. One of the absolute highlights is this Williams FW19 Renault, which was used during the Formula 1 Championship winning campaign in 1997. This particular car was raced only once but was instrumental during the pre-season test and development work. Chassis FW19-03 has been part of the Collection Renault since October of 1998 and is pretty much complete and includes an engine and gearbox. One of our favourites is this Renault Alpine A442, which is the very first of four examples built and formed part of the 1978 Le Mans winning effort. Chassis 442/0 debuted with a pole position at Dijon in 1975 but suffered from reliability issues for much of its career.
2025-12-02: One-off Pagani and rare Ferraris headed for auction ...
Pagani Zonda Riviera As part of the Formula 1 season will stage the very exclusive Abu Dhabi Auction. Among the 32 cars due to cross the block are three McLaren competition cars that will still be raced during the 2026 and 2027 seasons, and also the one-off Pagani and limited production Ferraris featured today.
One of the absolute headliners is this Pagani Zonda Riviera, which started life as a Zonda F and was later upgraded to the current one-off specification as part of the Pagani Unico programme. As part of the upgrades are an uprated engine, seven-speed sequential gearbox, a roof-mounted air intake and fixed rear wing. The Zonda Riviera is now estimated to sell for $9,500,000 - 10,050,000.
One of the earliest cars consigned is this Ferrari F40, which was presented by Ferrari to its newly signed Formula 1 driver Alain Prost. Fastidiously maintained throughout its life, the ex-Alain Prost F40 should now sell for well over $3 million.
One of the F40's spiritual successors is the Ferrari LaFerrari of which a great example on offer. It was originally sold to Kuwait and has been regularly used during the last ten years. Another Ferrari from the same stable on offer is this striking Monza SP2. If was finished in a striking titanium grey and spent most of its life in storage.
