2025-11-27: 2025 Estoril Classics report and 170-shot gallery ...
2025 Estoril Classics report and 170-shot gallery For the traditional season finale, the Historic Racing by Peter Auto Series returned to the beautiful Cascais area of Portugal for the annual Estoril Classics. A set fixture since 2020, the event is a favourite with participants as it is run on a classic, undulating circuit and provides the last bit of pleasant weather of the season. This year was no exception and under beautiful blue skies, nine distinctly different grids took the track, ranging from early 1950s sports cars to Grand Prix cars of the 1980s, which included a turbocharged Formula 1 car for the first time in historic racing. Being the last meeting of the year, there was more to play for than just race victories as championships were on the line as well. The 2025 Estoril Classics also represented the end of an era as the championship will be known as the Le Mans Classic Series from the 2026 season onwards with additional and grids added to the roster.
As always, our photographers were trackside throughout the weekend with a class-by-class 170-shot gallery as the result. This serves to illustrate our in-depth report of the Historic Racing by Peter Auto season finale.
2025-11-24: Lamborghini Miura S headed for auction, Cayenne Electric and record-smashing S1 LM ...
Lamborghini Miura S Broad Arrow Auctions have announced a pair of online-only automotive auctions scheduled for January, 2026. As an early highlight for the European edition is this Lamborghini Miura S. Completed in February of 1971, it was sold to Spanish island of Tenerife where the originally red paint quickly faded in the bright sunshine. The first owner decided to re-paint the car in the more resistant yellow it still wears today. Offered from single ownership of over 25 years and with just 2,000 km on the odometer since the restoration, chassis 4809 is estimate to sell for €1,600,000 - 1,800,000.
Rival auctioneer RM Sotheby's broke the record for a new car sold at a regular auction this weekend when it sold the very first Gordon Murray Automotive S1 LM to be built for stunning $20.6 million. The new owner will now have the privilege to complete the car to their exact specification.
Continuing the roll-out of battery electric vehicles, Porsche introduced the the all-new Cayenne Electric this week. It is distinctly different from the internal combustion and hybrid Cayenne models, which will continue to be produced. In the 'base' electric configuration, the new BEV Cayenne is equipped with a drivetrain capable of 436 with the launch control applied. The current range-topping Cayenne Electric Turbo has a maximum output of up to 1,139 bhp and 1,500 Nm of torque.
2025-11-21: Dallara, Pescarolo and Porsche racers that starred in the 2025 Endurance Racing Legends ...
Dallara SP1 Judd At this week's Historic Motoring Awards, the Peter Auto Endurance Racing Legends was named 'Best Racing Series.' To mark this occasion, we have taken a closer look at three cars that starred in this year's campaign, which included the Le Mans Classic.
First up is this Dallara SP1 Judd, which was raced in period by both the Playstation Team Oreca and Martin Short's Rollcentre squad. Following its period career, it was retained by Short for many years before it was acquired by the current custodian. Chassis DO-006 was then raced in its Rollcentre colours until the start of this year when the striking Playstation livery was re-applied. In this guise, it raced at the Spa Classic and Le Mans Classic before it was offered for sale by specialists Fiskens.
Competing at these same two events was this Pescarolo Courage C60 Hybrid, which was re-united on both occasions with original driver Emmanuel Collard. A true Le Mans icon, this chassis was raced in the 24 Hours on no fewer than six occasions with a second place overall in 2005 as the best result. Additionally, chassis 4 scored six outright wins in the 2005 and 2006 Le Mans Series.
Another historically significant racer to return to action in the Endurance Racing Legends series was this 993-generation Porsche 911 GT2 R. Originally sold to Rohr Racing, it is the very first 911 GT2 competition car built and immediately finished second in class and fourth overall at the 1995 Daytona 24 Hours. The car remained in American ownership until it was brought back to Germany and at the recent Dix Mille Tours, the current custodian reunited Jochen Rohr with the 911 GT2 R that he raced together with Hurley Haywood at Daytona exactly 30 years ago
2025-11-18: 2025 Spa Six Hours report and 180-shot gallery ...
2025 Spa Six Hours report and 180-shot gallery The annual Spa Six Hours is one of the jewels in the historic racing crown. The six-hour race is run for pre-1966 GT cars on the legendary Spa Francorchamps track and is notoriously difficult to win for a variety of reasons. This year was certainly no exception as the 78-strong grid had a very eventful race with numerous safety car interruptions, a fuel station failure added to the challenge of racing into the evening on the undulating circuit in the Belgian Ardennes. Underlining that it is not just a lottery was the fact that one of this year's winners scored his fifth outright victory. The six-hour race on Saturday afternoon was the culmination of three days of racing with a very diverse support program that included pre-War sports cars, a single-make Alfa Romeo series and the newly established GT3 Legends championship run by Motor Racing Legends.
Our photographers were at the track throughout the three days and have captured the action in this 180-shot gallery, which illustrates our concise report.
2025-11-14: All-new Bentley Supersports and first glimpse of Audi Formula 1 car ...
Bentley Supersports To mark the 100th anniversary of the original Bentley 3-Litre Super Sports, Bentley has created the all-new Supersports. Strictly limited to just 500 numbered examples, it is the first Continental GT model with rear-wheel drive only. The Supersports is powered by a twin-turbo V8, which is tuned to produce 657 bhp and 800 Nm of torque. This power is transferred to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Crucially, the Supersports is expected to weigh less than 2,000 kg, making it the lightest Bentley produced during the last 70 years. Order books will open in March of 2026 with the production due to begin in the fourth quarter of that year and the first deliveries expected early in 2027.
At a special earlier this week, Audi revealed the R26 Concept, which offers a first glimpse of the German manufacturer's upcoming Formula 1 car. The livery due to be used is expected to be carried over from the show car with added sponsorship decals from the team's partners. The upcoming R26 will be built to the all-new 2026 regulations and will feature a proprietary engine developed in-house by Audi and a chassis created in Switzerland by Sauber, which has been a fully owned subsidiary of Audi since the start of this year.
  2025-11-11: GMA S1 LM headed for auction and new race-car round-up ...
Gordon Murray Automotive S1 LM When Gordon Murray Automotive revealed the S1 LM in August, it was announced that all five examples due to be produced were commissioned by one customer. As it turns out, he did not intend to keep more than one and since then, three have been sold on. The interest in the final available car, chassis 1, was such that it was decided to offer it through a special RM Sotheby's sale at the annual amfAR benefit gala in Las Vegas on November 21st. Inspired by the Le Mans winning McLaren F1 GTR, which was also designed by Gordon Murray, the S1 LM features a unique 4.3-litre version of the Cosworth V12 that revs to a startling 12,100 rpm. RM Sotheby's estimate that chassis 1 will sell for in excess of $20,000,000.
During the Lamborghini World Finals at Misano, the Italian manufacturer presented the upcoming Temerario Super Trofeo. Based on the latest V8-engined road-going Lamborghini, it is currently being developed alongside the GT3 that is expected to debut in the 2026 season. The Temerario Super Trofeo will be rolled out for Lamborghini's one-make series in 2027 and features a re-tuned twin-turbo V8 that powers the rear wheels only.
An altogether more modest competition car revealed this week is the Peugeot 208 Racing TC6. The entry-level racer is powered by a turbocharged three-cylinder engine, good for around 145 bhp.
At this weekend's sanctioned IMSA test at Daytona, BMW will debut the M Hybrid V8 Evo. This incorporates a series of improvements to the aerodynamics, including a smaller version of the BMW 'kidney' grille and restyled headlights. It will be run by the Belgian WRT team, who are already responsible for the German manufacturer's FIA WEC effort and will take over from long-term North American partner Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing.
2025-11-07: Newey's own Leyton House and the latest news ...
Leyton House CG901 Adrian Newey has been the single most successful Formula 1 designer of the last three decades and is now embarking on a new adventure to see if he can score a World Championship with a fourth different team. To mark the occasion, we have taken a closer look at the Leyton House CG901 from his personal collection. It was with the CG901 built by the rebranded March team that Newey really established his reputation in Formula 1. Yvan Capelli came achingly close to winning the French Grand Prix that year but by that time, Newey had already been fired and taken his ideas to Williams. With a bigger budget and better engine, he created the remarkably similar and all conquering FW14. The CG901 owned today by Newey is the fifth of six produced and has been restored to full running order during the late 2010s by Paul Morgan. It has since been exercised at Goodwood on two occasions.
At the recent Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo, several local manufacturers showed interesting concept cars. The Mazda Vision X Concept features a plug-in hybrid drivetrain with, what Mazda enthusiasts will appreciate, a turbocharged rotary internal combustion engine. Subaru showcased two STI themed show cars with the Performance B-STI Concept and the all-electric Performance-E STI. The star on the Mitsubishi stand was this Elevance Concept.
Porsche have expanded the all-electric Macan line-up with the GTS version. The two electric motors produce a combined 509 bhp and a staggering 955 Nm of torque, which allows the Macan GTS to accelerate to 100 km/h in a mere 3.8 seconds.
  2025-11-03: McLaren Monday with ex-Senna MP4/6 headed for auction and ex-works F1 GTR ...
McLaren MP4/6 Honda Today, we celebrate McLaren Monday by highlighting a pair of great cars produced by the Woking-based manufacturers. First up is the McLaren MP4/6 Honda prototype. It was the first example of the Honda V12 engined McLaren Formula 1 cars built ahead of the 1991 World Championship. It was used predominantly for test and development work throughout the year and it was raced only once. It was entered in the Brazilian Grand Prix for Ayrton Senna, who scored what he later described as the toughest victory in his career. He started from pole and was cruising to victory until his gearbox started to fail from lap 50 onwards and he was forced to finish the race with a car stuck in sixth gear. His lead quickly diminished but he held on to score the win. Chassis MP4/6/1 continued to be used in testing until the end of the season. It was retained by McLaren until 2020, when it was rebuilt to full running order for its private owner. Early next month, it will be offered in a RM Soteheby's sealed auction with a pre-sale estimate of $12 - $15 million.
At the recent Goodwood Festival of Speed, we were treated to this 1996-specification McLaren F1 GTR. It was one of three acquired new by BMW Motorsport to be run by Team Bigazzi. It was raced sparingly but did appear at Le Mans where it finished 11th overall and ninth in the GT1 class. A subsequent private custodian had the car re-painted Papaya and converted for road use by Lanzante. During the second half of the 2010s, it was re-restored to its BMW Fina works livery that chassis 16R still wears today.
