2025-10-30: Fabulous Hispano Suiza and Bugatti reunited with same family after a century apart ...
Exactly 100 years to the day, Autocar Magazine published an article dubbed 'A Fine Fleet', which chronicled the stable of Royal Navy Lieutenant Commander, adventurer and future 'Bentley-boy' Glen Kidston. He would go on to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans outright in 1930 and would set the London to Cape Town air record before sadly passing away in a fatal airplane crash in 1931. Nearly a century later, his nephew and prominent car dealer Simon Kidson has set about reassembling the collection that starred in the Autocar Magazine article. The crown jewel is this Hispano Suiza H6C that was bodied in period with a unique Saloon Limousine by Royal coach builder Hooper. Not only did it star in the Autocar article, it was also captured in moving images during Glen Kidston's marriage to beautiful socialite Nancy Soames. The car left the Kidston family in the late 1920s and has spent time in distant Jamaica and New Zealand before it was acquired by Simon Kidston in 2018. An 18,000-hour restoration later, the H6C Hooper Saloon Limousine starred at Pebble Beach this summer. More recently it was brought to Astor House to recreate a photograph that was published in the October 30, 1925 Autocar Article. It was photographed together with this very early Bugatti Type 35 Grand Prix that had been picked up personally at the Molsheim factory by Glen Kidston in 1925. He immediately raced the car on the continent and on the British Isles, but it was only part of the 'Fine Fleet' for a few months. The subsequent custodians have continued to campaign and cherish the car and it was acquired by Simon Kidston in 2016 following a 50-year single ownership. We captured chassis 4450 last year when it was shown at the Chantilly Arts & Elegance in a special class celebrating 100 years of the Bugatti Type 35. |
2025-10-28: RM Sotheby's London sale with early DB4 GT, FXX-K Evo and P1 GTR ...
For this weekend's London sale, Anglo-Canadian auctioneer RM Sotheby's have consigned a formidable and very diverse collection of cars. As a preview, we have highlighted three examples that stood out.First up is this very early Aston Martin DB4 GT, which was sold new to Aston Martin Works driver Noël Cunningham-Reid. Only the second example built, it was originally numbered 002/R with the 'R' referring to the right-hand drive configuration. A few months after it had been delivered, it was re-numbered by the factory to DB4GT/0102/R to align with the numbers used for the subsequent production cars. Cunningham-Reid only owned the car briefly but in the next six decades, it has been cherished by subsequent owners. In recent ownership, it was meticulously restored by RSW ltd. and upgraded to 4.2-litre specification. Headlining the sale is this Ferrari FXX-K, which was upgraded to 'Evo' specification by the factory. In original ownership, the track-only model was used regularly but since the upgrade has seen very limited use. Chassis 212002 was consigned by its second custodian and should sell for £3,700,000 - 5,200,000. Another track-only consignment is this McLaren P1 GTR, which is the 14th of just 58 built. Fastidiously maintained and regularly used all around the world, chassis 14 has a pre-sale estimate of around £1 million. |

2025-10-23: 2025 Goodwood Revival report and 210-shot gallery ...
Last month's Goodwood Revival underlined that rain or shine, the annual meeting on the Goodwood Motor Circuit is one of the absolute highlights on the historic racing calendar. The traditional step back in time to the 1950s and 1960s once again featured all the great races like the two-driver Freddie March Memorial Trophy, Stirling Moss Memorial Trophy and RAC TT Celebration, and also the big-banger Whitsun Trophy. In addition to the races, the 27th edition of the Revival also featured fabulous celebrations, one marking the 60th anniversary of the great Jim Clark's unrivalled success during the 1965 season and another marking 100 years since Alfa Romeo won the World Manufacturers' Championship and 75 years since the inaugural Formula 1 World Championship also dominated by the Milanese manufacturers. Changeable conditions were predicted before the event and this provided great racing until late on Sunday afternoon when the track conditions really hampered the proceedings. This did not dampen the spirits of the spectators, participants and our photographers, who captured this 210-shot gallery to illustrate a concise report of the 27th annual Goodwood Revival Meeting. |

The SC40 is finished in a custom white while the twin-turbo V6 is visible through smoked Lexan louvres. While the SC40 is strictly a one-off, other Ferrari F40 enthusiasts do have the opportunity to acquire one at the upcoming RM Sotheby's London sale. The example consigned was built in 1991 and acquired new by a UK-based Malaysian enthusiast. For the last 31 years, chassis 88605 was in the hands of a single owner. By winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans in a car bearing his own name, Jean Rondeau made history in 1980. The Le Mans native, continued to build and field cars for several more years. The swan song came in 1983, when his team fielded this Rondeau M482 along with two sister cars under the Ford France banner. For the featured chassis 002, this would be its only race in period and it remained at the Rondeau workshop until the late 1990s. Restored by its successive owners, M482-002 finally returned to the race-track over 40 years after its initial debut, at the Le Mans Classic in July. |

2025-10-09: All-new Pininfarina V12 hypercar, first electric Ferrari and revised Aston DB12 ...
At a special event in Miami, newly established manufacturer Vittori revealed the Turbio. Strictly limited to just 50 examples, it combines Pininfarina styling with a bespoke drivetrain developed by Italian specialists Italtecnica. This is a hybridised V12, which will be capable of producing well over 1,000 bhp. Further details of the striking Vittori Turbio will be released in the coming months.Ferrari used the Capital Markets Day to unveil the first glimpses of the Italian manufacturer's very first all-electric car. Appropriately referred to as the Elettrica for now, it will be equipped with electric motors on both axles. Thanks to a combined output of 1,112 bhp, the new Ferrari will capable of sprinting to 100 km/h in a mere 2.5 seconds. The Elettrica will also have a range of 530 km but probably only when the accelerator pedal is used with some restraint. For now, Ferrari only showcased the aluminium platform chassis, so we will have to wait a little longer to see what the fully clothed Elettrica will look like. The range topping Aston Martin model has evolved into the DB12 S. Among the numerous refinements is a slight hike in power of the twin-turbo V8, which is equipped with a modified, better sounding exhaust system. The chassis has also been tweaked and the DB12 S now comes as standard with carbon ceramic discs that improve braking characteristics and decrease weight. The styling reflects the "bolstered performance and sporting feel with a striking new look." The order books of the 'S' have opened and the first deliveries are expected for the first quarter of 2026. |

Broad Arrow Auctions will stage their first ever Zoute Sale next week. Held as part of the Zoute Grand Prix on the Belgian coast, the auction features a pair of very interesting supercars.Rarest of this duo is the one-off Lamborghini Pregunta. The design is inspired by contemporary jet fighters and even the matt grey paint was derived from the French Rafale airplane. Shown only twice in period, the Pregunta was retained by Heuliez until 2008. Offered from single private ownership, the fully functional and Lamborghini Polo Storico certified Pregunta has a pre-sale estimate of €2.5 - €3.5 million. The Australian used the Valkyrie only very sparingly and it can now be acquired directly from his collection for €2.4 - €2.8 million. |
