2025-06-30: New Ferrari GT racer, one-off Giugiaro and the latest auction highlights ...
Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo During this weekend's Spa 24 Hours, Ferrari revealed the 296 GT3 Evo. As the name suggests, it is an evolution of the successful 296-based GT3 racer that is produced for Ferrari by French specialist Oreca. The updates focus on improving the usability of the car with revised gear ratios and improved aerodynamics. Compared to the current model almost every body panel has been further refined. As is usually the case with evolutions of GT3 cars, the 296 GT3 Evo is available as a complete car or an upgrade package for existing cars.
It had escaped our attention but earlier this year Fabrizio and Giorgietto Giugiaro launched the one-off Peralta S. Based on the current MC20, it is based on the legendary wedge-shaped Boomerang show car designed by Giorgietto Giugiaro in the early 1970s. The Peralta S was built for and named after a Mexican enthusiast.
During the coming two weeks, there will be two major auctions in England. First up is the RM Sotheby's Cliveden House sale. Among the many interesting cars consigned is this Creation CA07 AIM, which was raced at Le Mans in 2008 and 2009. Built by the popular Creation Autosportif team, it was powered by the Judd developed AIM V10 engine.
Next week, Bonhams will stage their flagship Goodwood Festival of Speed sale. One of the headliners is this virtually brand-new Mercedes-AMG One, which is one of just 275 examples built. Also on offer is a matching Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series Project One Edition. This particular version was only available to holders of an allocation for the Mercedes-AMG One.
2025-06-27: New Koenigsegg, Mercedes-Benz AMG concept and Corvette ZR1X ...
Koenigsegg Sedair's Spear This week Koenigsegg launched the latest version of the Jesko, dubbed the Sedair's Spear. Its unusual name comes from the last horse raced by company found Christian van Koenigsegg's father Jesko during the 1970s. Fittingly, the Sedair's Spear is a proper thoroughbred that will particularly excel on the track. It is lighter and at 1,601 bhp is also more powerful than the Jesko it is based on. Production is limited to 30 and all of the $5.2 million priced examples have reportedly already found an owner.
With the Concept AMG GT XX, Mercedes-Benz offers a glimpse into the future. The striking four-door coupe is powered by three axial flux motors that produce a combined 1,340 bhp. It also boasts sophisticated aerodynamics, which includes active aero wheels with five moveable elements. The striking orange colour of the GT XX is inspired by the C111 show cars of the 1960s and 1970s.
The newest addition to the C8-generation Corvette is the ZR1X. Available as a coupe or a hard-top convertible, it combines the supercharged drivetrain of the ZR1 with the front motor of the E-Ray. The result is the most powerful Corvette today with maximum power exceeding 1,250 bhp. In addition to the very powerful drivetrain, the Corvette ZR1X also features the updated interior introduced on the other C8 models earlier this year.
2025-06-24: Rare Ferrari competition cars headed for RM Sotheby's auctions ...
Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Competizione S3 Anglo-Canadian auctioneer RM Sotheby's have consigned a pair of very rare Ferrari competition cars. Currently on offer through their 'Sealed' auctions is this Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Competizione, which was raced at Daytona three times and once at Le Mans in period. The first of the five Series 3 cars, it was originally sold to Luigi Chinetti for his North American Racing Team. Chassis 16343 finished only one of its 24-hour adventures but was rewarded with a class win at the occasion. Part of the same collection for over two decades, it is estimated to sell for $5.5 - $7.5 million with bidding due to close on the 26th.
Due to cross the block at the company's flagship Monterey Sale is this 375 Plus Sutton Spyder. It is one of eight Ferraris fitted with the behemoth five-litre 375 Plus engine and was raced in period with considerable success by the likes of Ken Miles, Carroll Shelby and Dan Gurney. Shelby crashed the car early in its life and it was fitted with the unique Sutton body that is still on the car today. Chassis 0478AM has been part of the same anonymous collection for the past three decades and has the same $5.5 - $7.5 million estimate.
  2025-06-19: 2025 Grand Prix de l'Age d'Or report and 190-shot gallery ...
2025 Grand Prix de l'Age d'Or report and 190-shot gallery Held at the legendary Circuit de Dijon Prenois for the last decades, the annual Grand Prix de l'Age d'Or is the oldest still existing historic racing meeting on continental Europe. Since 2014, it has been part of the Peter Auto roster of events and accordingly featured seven of the familiar sports and touring car grids. In addition to the likes of Classic Endurance Racing, Heritage Touring Cup and Sixties' Endurance, there was also the single-seater HGPCA grid, which was true to the event's origins as a Formula 1 support race. There were also special demonstration runs each day for three-litre Grand Prix cars, which included the familiar Cosworth DFV-powered cars but also Matra and Ferrari V12 power. The Grand Prix de l'Age d'Or furthermore has a strong enthusiast club presence with a great mix of classic cars lining the track on the East side of the paddock. During the short lunch breaks, some club cars also got the opportunity to sample the undulating circuit.
Our photographers were on hand once again and captured all the races in this class-by-class 190-shot gallery. It serves to illustrate our concise report of the weekend.
2025-06-17: Early Gooding Pebble Beach consignment and new McLaren Hypercar ...
Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder One of the highlights on the annual auction calendar is Gooding & Co.'s annual Pebble Beach sale. Among the early consignments is this Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder, which was recently re-finished in the distinct original colour of Nocciola. After it was displayed at the 1961 Brussels Motor Show, it was returned to Italy where it starred in a major motion picture. It has since been owned by several major collectors and 2277GT is now consigned from over 20 years of single ownership. Another early Ferrari due to cross the block, is this 250 GT Tour de France. Sold new to Bill Harrah, it was never raced in period and is one of the best preserved examples extant. It has benefitted from a sympathetic restoration in more recent years but all major original components are still with the car. That is also the case with the Jaguar C-Type that will be offered during the two-day auction. It was sold to the United States but only used on the road until the 1980s when several successive owners used it for historic racing. It was never seriously damaged and XKC 028 was more recently restored by marque specialists CKL Development.
Celebrating the 30th anniversary of McLaren's debut Le Mans victory, the British manufacturer took the wraps off the upcoming Hypercar over the weekend. Using a Dallara chassis and V6 engine, it is scheduled to make its first competitive appearance at La Sarthe in 2027. McLaren also announced the special 'Endurance Customer Partnership Programme', which will allow a select number of clients to buy one and experience the thrill of running the Hypercar on track.
2025-06-12: New Toyota Hydrogen racer, Ligier JS P3X and mighty Giamaro Katla ...
Toyota GR2 LH Racing Concept During the build up to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Toyota launched the GR2 LH Racing Concept. It is the latest evolution of the Japanese manufacturer's journey towards a hydrogen fuelled Le Mans racer. The GR2 LH Racing Concept is also part of the 40th anniversary celebration of Toyota's first participation at Le Mans. It will be on display throughout race week in the dedicated H2 Village inside the circuit.
Ligier Automotive is also celebrating an anniversary at Le Mans; the 10th of the original Ligier JS P3 LMP3 racer. To mark the occasion, Ligier revealed the JS P3X, which will be produced in the appropriate limited number of ten. It is based on the latest generation Ligier LMP3 car but powered by a more powerful Chevrolet small-block engine. Not homologated, the JS P3X is effectively a track-day special.
The latest supercar manufacturer on the block hails from Italy and is dubbed Giamaro. Their first machine is the Katla, which is built around a carbon-fibre composite monocoque and is powered by a bespoke engine that is good for 2,125 bhp in its most powerful guise. The wide-angle V12 displaces seven litres and is equipped with four turbos. The first cars will be fitted with a Cima seven-speed automatic gearbox but an 11-speed dual clutch gearbox is also in the works for the Giamaro.
2025-06-10: Road-going Porsche 963 RSP and new Valkyrie LM ...
Porsche 963 RSP Ahead of this week's 24 Hours of Le Mans, Porsche revealed the one-of Porsche 963 RSP. Based on the 963 competition car, it was inspired on 917-030, which is the unique road-legal 917 K converted for Count Rossi by Porsche in 1975. The new 963 RSP was built specifically for Roger Searle Penske, whose Penske Motorsport runs the current Porsche Hypercar program. Like 917-030, the 963 RSP was finished and features a fully beige leather upholstered interior. To make the car more suitable for the road, the ride-height was raised and the engine remapped. Not homologated for the road, the 963 RSP can be driven on the road under special circumstances with manufacturer plates.
Also announced at Le Mans was the Valkyrie LM, which is track-day version of the Valkyrie LMH that will race at the 24 Hours over the weekend. Only ten examples of the LM will be produced in 2026 for a group of discerning Aston Martin clients. The Valkyrie LM owners can then participate in special, fully supported track-day events.
  2025-06-05: 2025 Spa Classic Report and 210-shot gallery ...
2025 Spa Classic Report and 210-shot gallery Held during the final weekend of May, the 2025 Spa Classic once again reaffirmed the annual event's status on the historic motorsport calendar. It was the second round of the Peter Auto series and attracted a stellar entry of over 400 racing cars spread across 10 different grids. Among the many fantastic cars out on track were a Gulf Porsche 917, Ferrari 512 M, a pair of Audi R8s and no fewer than four Nissan Group C cars. During the rare breaks in the program enthusiast club cars were also allowed to sample the track and these included a lovely Lamborghini Miura S.
As has become standard practice during the Spa Classic the races ran well into the night, culminating with a night race for the Heritage Touring Cup that did not finish until early on Sunday morning. To further complicate things, the almost inevitable rain arrived on Saturday at around lunchtime and ensured that the track was wet for the remainder of the weekend. As can be seen in our class-by-class 210-shot gallery the conditions only added to the spectacle. It serves to illustrate our concise report of the 2025 Spa Classic.
There was little time to recover as the next round, the Grand Prix de l'Age d'Or at Dijon is this weekend. A full report from this will of course also follow in due course.
2025-06-03: Villa d'Este winning Alfa Romeo P3, limited edition McLaren and new Bentayga Speed ...
Alfa Romeo Tipo B P3 A busy weekend on the shores of Lake Como concluded with the announcement of the 'Best of Show' of the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este. In 2025, this honour was bestowed on this Alfa Romeo P3, which was raced in period by the factory team and then for many more years by successive private owners. Its period racing career ran well into the 1950s and by the 1960s it was used for historic racing. Still remarkably original, chassis 50003 was most recently driven to victory in the 2014 Monaco Historic Grand Prix. It has now proven a winner on the showfield as well.
With the 30th anniversary of the company's Le Mans victory looming, McLaren has introduced the limited edition 750S Le Mans. Only 50 examples will produced which feature subtle cosmetic changes like F1 GTR inspired five-spoke wheels and a high downforce kit created by MSO. The 750S Le Mans is available in the same shade of metallic grey as the Le Mans winner, while papaya orange is the only other option.
Eclipsing the now phased out W12 model, the latest Bentayga Speed is powered by a twin turbo V8 engine. This is good for 641 bhp and is capable of propelling the flagship SUV model to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds.
