2025-09-30: Fabulous Ferraris and Pagani from single collection headed to auction ...
Ferrari 333 SP At the dedicated Tailored for Speed Collection auction, RM Sotheby's will offer the stable of a Switzerland based French collector who is also behind the successful Iron Lynx and Iron Dames racing teams. The 42-lot sale is headlined by this fantastic Ferrari 333 SP, which was raced in period with great success by the JB Racing team. Among the previous custodians was current Aston Martin owner Lawrence Stroll, and we captured 023 a few years ago at the Goodwood Festival of Speed with Giancarlo Fisichella behind the wheel. Another competition car due to cross the block is this Ferrari 488 GTE. The Evo spec model was raced for three seasons with considerable success by the Iron Lynx and Iron Dames teams, scoring several ELMS victories and making three appearances at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Also included in the auction are several limited production hypercars like this Ferrari Daytona SP3. Only 600 were built, and they are highly sought after still thanks to the great retro styling and non-hybrid naturally aspirated V12 drivetrain. Another great V12-engined car on offer is this particularly strikingly finished Pagani Huayra R. It was built specifically for the collection and is one of just 30 to be produced. It is equipped with an option package that added a startling €306,490 to the 'base' price.
2025-09-25: 2025 Dix Mille Tours Report and 210-shot gallery ...
2025 Dix Mille Tours Report and 210-gallery Earlier this month, the historic racing season resumed after the summer break with the annual Dix Mille Tours. Hosted by the unique Circuit Paul Ricard, the event has been a set fixture on the Peter Auto calendar for many years. This year's edition saw all ten of the grids that form part of the championship represented. That meant a packed schedule with competition cars hitting the track ranging in age from the early 1950s right through to the early 2010s. Most grids were impressive both in size and quality. Among the many star cars that competed were a McLaren F1 GTR, Ferrari 312 PB and a pair of Gulf Porsche 917s. Another absolute highlight was the two-hour Sixties' Endurance race that was held after the sun had already set.
Enjoy the beautiful weather, our photographers were on hand to capture the 2025 Dix Mille Tours in great detail. The result is this 210-shot gallery that serves to illustrate our comprehensive report.
2025-09-23: New top speed world record, limited edition Mercedes-AMG GT2 and upcoming Zagato hypercar ...
Yangwang U9 Xtreme Luxury subsidiary of BYD, Yangwang, have set a new top speed world record for production cars with this U9 Xtreme. Piloted by Marc Basseng, the all-electric supercar achieved a speed of 496.22 km/h on the Automotive Testing Papenburg track in Germany. The U9 Xtreme, or U9X is a further developed version of the U9 introduced in 2024. It is powered by four electric motors that are good for 744 bhp each, bringing the combined output close to 3,000 bhp. To meet the production car standards, Yangwang will produce 30 examples of the record breaking machine.
Earlier this month, Mercedes-AMG revealed the GT2 Edition W16. As the name suggests, it is inspired by the current W16 Formula 1 car and fittingly Kimi Antonelli will hand sign the door of each car that comes off the line. It is based on the GT2 competition car and is not homologated for the road. It boasts a further enhanced version of the twin-turbo V8. As a result, the 817 bhp Edition W16 will be the most powerful car ever produced by Mercedes-AMG.
Ahead of the official launch at the Zoute Grand Prix early next month, German engineering firm Capricorn have revealed the first glimpse of the company's very first hypercar. Simply referred to as the 01, the gull-wing door equipped Coupe is styled by Zagato. Production will commence early in 2026 and only 19 examples will be built.
2025-09-19: Gordon Murray marvels headed for RM Sotheby's auction ...
McLaren F1 For the upcoming Abu Dhabi sale, RM Sotheby's have consigned two Gordon Murray designed marvels from a same Danish collection. First up is this McLaren F1, which is one of just 65 road cars built. Painted titanium yellow, it was originally sold to the Brunei Royal Family. During subsequent American ownership, it was re-painted white and fitted with the highly desirable High Downforce Kit by McLaren in Woking. Now in Danish hands, chassis 014 has covered 13,711 miles from new and is expected to sell for in excess of $21 million.
Offered from the same stable is this Gordon Murray Automotive T.50. It was ordered new by the collector in 2022 and delivered earlier this year. It is finished in an understated grey and gloss carbon colour combination with, as a stand out, the bright orange driver's seat. Whereas the F1 was used, the T.50 was driven a mere 217 km. It will be the first time a T.50 will cross the auction block and it has a pre-sale estimate of $5 million.
2025-09-17: Gooding Christie's heads to Retromobile and Stan Lucas Collection sale ...
Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spyder In 2026, Anglo-American auctioneer Gooding Christie's will host the official Retromobile sale for the first time. The first consignment is this spectacular Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spyder. it was appropriately sold originally to California and it remained in the Golden State for the first 40 years of its life. During the last 25 years, it has had just two custodians, both major collectors. It was fully Ferrari Classiche certified during the late 2000s but Gooding Christie's have not released an estimate yet for chassis 0923GT.
This weekend, Gooding Christie's will stage the dedicated Stan Lucas Collection sale. The auction features a fabulous selection of early, mostly American machinery. The headliner is this Duesenberg J Murphy Convertible Coupe. It is equipped with the rare disappearing top and the rare still dual rear-mounted spare tyres. In 1985, it was the subject of an award-winning restoration at the hands of marque expert Fran Roxas. The late Stan Lucas only acquired 2490 J-461 in 2024, and sadly could only drive the Duesenberg once. It is offered with no reserve and has a $3 - $3.5 million estimate.
2025-09-11: McLaren's 1996 All Japan GT Championship win celebrated ...
McLaren F1 GTR In 1996, the Team Goh run and works backed Team Lark McLarens won the All Japan GT Championship with this McLaren F1 GTR. For this historic first and only win in the GT500 championship for a non-Japanese car, the team actually used three cars. Two were brand-new 1996-specification cars, while the featured example was actually the spare and had been used the year before in the BPR Championship sporting Gulf colours. It was pressed into service for the very last round of the championship and was instrumental in securing the title for David Brabham and John Nielsen. Chassis 04R is today part of a formidable collection that includes three other F1 GTRs. Last weekend, it was raced with great verve at the Dix Mille Tours of which a full report will follow shortly.
McLaren will celebrate this unique achievement with a limited production run of the 750S JC96. Just 61 examples will be produced for the Japanese market in Coupe and Spider form. The production number is a reference to the start number of the championship winning F1 GTR. The JC96 will feature a bespoke colour scheme inspired by the Team Lark F1 GTR and also a special high downforce kit that is available on the 750S Spider for the first time. In addition the features available as standard in the JC96 package, customers will also be able to specify many personalisation options available through McLaren Special Operations.
2025-09-09: Ferrari Testarossa reborn and new Porsche 911 Turbo S ...
Ferrari 849 Testarossa At a special event in Milan, Ferrari today revived the legendary Testarossa name by introducing the 849 Testarossa and the 849 Testarossa Spider. Replacing the SF90, the coupe and drop-top models are powered by an evolution of the hybrid drivetrain that consists of a four-litre turbocharged V8 and three electric motors. The combined output is a hefty 1,050 metric horsepower. The underpinnings have been further refined and the new Testarossa features styling inspired by the various Testarossa models as well as classic Ferrari sports racers. The new range-topping, regular production mid-engined sports car is capable of top speeds of over 330 km/h and can accelerate to 100 km/h in a mere 2.3 seconds.
Porsche used the IAA Mobility Show in Munich to take the wraps off the 911 range topping Turbo S Coupe and Turbo S Cabriolet. Like the rest of the Type 992 II range, the new Turbo S boasts a mild hybrid system, which includes a pair of eTurbos. The combined output is a just over 700 bhp, making this the most powerful production 911 to date. Compared to its predecessor, the new 911 Turbo S proved a startling 14 seconds faster around the Nürburgring with works driver Jörg Bergmeister recording a 7:03.92 in the autumn of 2024. Whereas the coupe is a pure two-seater, the 911 Turbo S Cabriolet is delivered with a 2+2 seating configuration.
  2025-09-04: 2025 Dix Mille Preview with Porsche 917, Porsche 911 GT3 RSR and Panoz LMP-1 ...
Porsche 917 K The 2025 Historic Racing by Peter Auto championship will kick back into action this weekend at Paul Ricard with the Dix Mille Tours. The schedule is packed with races for some absolutely fantastic sports and touring cars from the 1950s to the recent times. To get you in the mood, we have taken a closer look at three of these great cars that will compete this weekend. Among the most evocative is surely this Gulf-liveried Porsche 917 K. It was part of the John Wyer effort and prior to its identity being swapped, it was raced at Daytona by Jo Siffert and Bryan Redman. They finished second overall and went on to win the Spa 1000 km outright. Recently completely restored, 917/029(014) is now raced by Jo Siffert's son Philippe. Perhaps the most unconventional car out this weekend is the front-engined Panoz LMP-1 Roadster S. Although it was unusual, it was very competitive against the more conventional mid-engined Le Mans Prototypes. This particular car finished fifth overall at Le Mans and second at Petit Le Mans despite the design already being four years old. Recently acquired from the Panoz Museum, it was first raced at the recent Le Mans Classic.
Another successful racer back on track is this 997-generation Porsche 911 GT3 RSR. It was campaigned by the BMS Scuderia team in the bright-red livery more commonly used on the squad's Ferraris. Chassis ZAS799913 scored an outright win in the 2010 Spa 24 Hours and will be raced this weekend by former Porsche works driver Emanuel Collard.
2025-09-01: 2025 Imola Classic Report and 210-shot gallery ...
2025 Imola Classic Report and 210-shot gallery The last race meeting we attended before the summer break was the Imola Classic. Staged by Peter Auto, it served as the fourth round of the 2025 Historic Racing by Peter Auto series. It was the first time since 2018 that the championship was back at the beautiful Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari. All the familiar grids were represented at the Italian track with the exception of Group C Racing. Its place on the schedule was taken by the Alfa Revival Cup, which featured none other than Arturo Merzario on the grid. Another highlight was an appearance of the fully road legal Nissan R390 GT1 racer that has recently been re-liveried in Penzoil colours and is regularly driven on the road by its owner Erik Comas.
Our photographers were present throughout the weekend, which was a scorcher with the exception of one very big shower on Saturday afternoon. The result is this class-by-class 210- shot gallery that illustrates our concise report. Racing will resume this weekend at Paul Ricard with the annual Dix Mille Tours of which a full report will also duly follow.
