2026-03-26: New and original Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sports ...
Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport After a sneak preview during last week's Sebring 12 Hours, Chevrolet has revealed the C8-generation Corvette Grand Sport. Powered by an all-new 6.7-litre version of the venerable small-block V8 engine, the Grand Sport is positioned between the Stingray and ZR1 versions of the mid-engined Corvette. The new LS6 engine is good for 535 bhp, which is sent to the rear wheels through an eight-speed, dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Also launched today was the Corvette Grand Sport X, which takes the same concept one step further through the addition of an electric motor on the front axle. This provides an additional 184 bhp and 197 Nm of torque and turns the Grand Sport into a four-wheel drive machine.
The Grand Sport name was first used for the competition car that was developed off the books during the 1960s. Only five were built before the project was canned, including this example. Sold new to John Mecom, it was raced by the great Jim Hall in four events during the 1963 Bahamas Speed Week. Chassis 003 is only rarely seen in public but we caught it in action during the 2010 Goodwood Festival of Speed and also on display at The Quail and Carmel concours d'elegance some years earlier.
2026-03-24: Espiritu de Montjuic preview with Porsche 917 and new Mercedes-AMG GT3 ...
Porsche 917 K The European historic racing season will kick off this weekend with the Espiritu de Montjuic. Hosted by the Circuito de Barcelona-Cataluña, it is the start of the newly renamed Le Mans Classic Series and features the familiar Peter Auto grids. To build up anticipation, we have today taken a look at one of the star cars of 2025; this Porsche 917 K. It originally served as a spare for the Gulf Oil back JWA team and was later converted to Interserie Spyder configuration. Chassis 917-033 was ultimately not raced in either guise and as such is among the most original 917s extant. For the current custodian, an enthusiastic historic racer, it was converted back to its 917 K guise. He raced the car at select events in 2025 and we hope to see it back out soon.
Another Porsche that we first saw in historic racing at Barcelona last year is this 911 GT3 RSR Evo. It was actually not the first time that we saw it, as it we had already come across it back in 2009 during what was the final round of the FIA GT Championship in its original guise, at Zolder. The ex-Trackspeed 911 GT3 RSR Evo is back at Barcelona this weekend and will compete in the popular Endurance Racing Legends 2 grid.
We will also be at the Circuito de Barcelona-Cataluña and will of course follow up with a comprehensive report of the opening round of the Le Mans Classic Series.
Due to be based on the all-new GT Black Series, Mercedes-AMG have revealed further details on the upcoming GT3 racer. Much like its future rival from Toyota, the new Mercedes-AMG will be derived from what is effectively a homologation special. Testing had already commenced late in 2025, so the GT3 should be ready to go in 2027.
2026-03-19: Senna's first Grand Prix car headed for auction and The Amelia winners ...
Toleman TG183B Hart At the flagship Monaco Sale, RM Sotheby's will offer this Toleman TG183B Hart. Although it was raced only three times and scored a single point, it is a hugely significant machine. It is the very first Formula 1 car raced by the great Ayrton Senna. Chassis TG183-05 was built specifically for and raced exclusively by the young Brazilian. Restored to full running order, it was demonstrated at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed alongside a sister car, and is now offered with a €2,800,000 - 3,800,000 estimate.
Taking centre stage at the recent The Amelia were this McLaren M8B Chevrolet and Duesenberg J Weymann Tapertail Speedster. The two machines won the Best of Show in the Concours de Sport and the Concours d'Elegance categories respectively. The M8B was used by Bruce McLaren to score five race wins on his way to the 1969 Can-Am championship. Strictly a one-off the Duesenberg sports what designer Gordon Buehrig believed was his finest Speedster body.
Ahead of the Sebring debut, Lamborghini has released further images of the Temerario GT3, including three of the plaid livery due to be used by the Pfaff Motorsport team.
2026-03-16: M3 Touring headed for N24, refreshed GR Yaris and Temarario GT3 ready for debut ...
BMW M3 Touring 24H What started as an April Fools' joke in 2025 will now become reality at the 2026 Nürburgring 24 Hours as the entry list will feature a BMW M3 Touring 24H. The suggestion of a competition car based on the M3 Touring road car received so much positive feedback that BMW Motorsport decided to actually build the car. It is effectively an M4 GT3 Evo built into the shell of the estate road car. While the mechanicals are pretty much the same, most of the bodywork is purpose built for the M3 Touring 24H. It will be fielded in the gruelling endurance race by Schubert Motorsport and will be piloted by four BMW works drivers.
Due to make its debut at this weekend's Sebring 12 Hours is the all-new Lamborghini Temerario GT3. It is the first competition version of the new 'baby Lambo' to enter competition and will be entered by Pfaff Motorsport but manned by a trio of Lamborghini factory drivers. The Temerario GT3 will also be raced in Europe this year, most notably in the DTM Championship.
Toyota's competition department Gazoo Racing have reworked the hottest hot hatch currently available into the GR Yaris Type 26. As part of this 2026 model year package are subtle refinements to improve the handling and feel of the car and also includes a new 'RZ' aerodynamics package. Underneath the updated exterior, the GR Yaris Type 26 still features the diminutive three-cylinder engine that produces a remarkable 300 bhp.
2026-03-12: New Ferrari Amalfi Spider, Porsche Cayenne S and Lotus Eletre X ...
Ferrari Amalfi Spider Following the launch of the Coupe last year, Ferrari has now introduced the Amalfi Spider. Powered by the same 631 bhp V8, the 2+ convertible features a soft top that can open in 13.5 seconds at speeds of up to 60 km/h. Inside, the Amalfi Spider features a dual cockpit layout with rear seats large enough for travelling with children.
Porsche have expanded the electric Cayenne line-up with the new Cayenne S. It is positioned between the Cayenne and Cayenne Turbo model. The combined output of the electric motors is 536 bhp, while a further 121 bhp is available when using the 'Push-to-Pass' function. The Cayenne S has a vast list of options that includes carbon ceramic brakes and the Sport Chrono Package.
Originally available only as a battery electric vehicle, the Lotus Eletre is now available as a plug-in hybrid as the Eletre X. This uses an internal combustion engine as a generator to extend the range to 1,200 km. In pure electric mode, the Eletre X has as much as 938 bhp available and for up to 400 km.
2026-03-10: McLaren F1 GTR and ex-Senna Lotus consigned to sealed auction ...
McLaren F1 GTR Longtail An increasingly popular new service added to the RM Sotheby's offering is the 'Sealed Auction'. This offers 'a confidential selling experience where anonymity is assured and final prices remain unpublished." Today, we take a closer look at two very exciting recent consignments that are open for bidding right now. First up is this McLaren F1 GTR Longtail. The penultimate McLaren F1 derived competition car built, it scored a debut victory at the 1997 British GT Championship Silverstone round. Chassis 27R was later also loaned to the Japanese Team Lark for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The first F1 GTR Longtail to win a race has recently been restored to its 1997 Le Mans colours and is estimated to sell for a staggering $18 - $21 million.
Bidding will also close later this week for this Lotus 98T Renault. The third of four built, it was raced during the 1986 Formula 1 World Championship by Ayrton Senna. He used the Renault V6-engined machine to score victories in the Spanish and Detroit Grands Prix. The most successful ex-Ayrton Senna Lotus Grand Prix cars, chassis 98T - 3 has been in the same hands for a decade. It is in full running order and demonstrated for a previous custodian by none other than Tom Kristensen at the 2012 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The chance to acquire this exquisite piece of Team Lotus and Ayrton Senna history does not come cheaply as the pre-sale estimate is $9.5 - $12 million.
Unfortunately, we will never know what the final sales price on these cars will be.
2026-03-05: GMA T.50s signed off in style and the iconic Brabham BT52 BMW ...
Gordon Murray Automotive T.50s Niki Lauda Gordon Murray Automotive has signed off the T.50s Niki Lauda in style. The track-only version of the highly acclaimed T.50 road car has been put through rigorous test and development work with three-time Indy 500 winner Dario Franchitti behind the wheel. It was a very public process as the prototypes were regularly run at events like the Goodwood Members' Meeting and Festival of Speed. During the final 'Production Approval' test at the Bahrain International Circuit, Franchitti set a lap time that was a full seven seconds faster than the GT3 benchmark. During this process, Gordon Murray Automotive used three chassis, which we have all highlighted today. Now that the development phase has been completed, production is under way and the plan is to have all 25 examples with their owners before the end of the year.
Among the many hugely successful competition cars created by Gordon Murray is the 1983 Formula 1 World Championship winning Brabham BT52 BMW. Six were built and today we have taken a closer look at BT52-6, which was one of two originally built in 'B' specification. It was raced by Riccardo Patrese and then retained by Bernie Ecclestone. The BT52 was restored to full running order and demonstrated at the 81st Goodwood Members' Meeting in 2023 alongside the BT52 that is part BMW Classic's collection.
2026-03-03: Unobtainable Collection headlined by Enzo headed for Broad Arrow Amelia sale ...
Unobtainable Collection As part of the annual 'The Amelia', Broad Arrow Auctions will stage their annual Amelia Island sale this weekend. Among the many highlights is a collection of very rare hypercars offered from a single collection. It is headlined by a black Ferrari Enzo, which was acquired new by the consignor. In the intermittent 23 years, it has covered a mere 450 miles and accordingly chassis 131242 has a pre-sale estimate of $12 - $14 millions. Also consigned with delivery mileage are a Tailor Made Ferrari F12tdf and a striking Ferrari Monza SP2 in a classic Ferrari competition colour combination of racing red with blue seats.
This collector was not just into Ferraris as he also acquired this well-optioned Porsche 918 Spyder new from the factory. Again only barely used, the 918 Spyder has been consigned with just 352 miles on the odometer.
The only car of the five that was not bought new by the New York-based enthusiast is this Porsche 959 Sport. One of just 29 built, it did have a famous first owner in Vasek Polak Jr., the son of legendary West Coast distributor Vasek Polak. Following a spell in Switzerland, chassis 905011 was bought at auction in 2017 and has also been used sparingly since.
